Many brides and grooms think about how to make their wedding rings unique. One popular option is engraving. A small inscription or design can dramatically change the look of a ring.

Can engraving be done on wedding rings? Tradition favors smooth rings for a “smooth family life”. However, many people neglect it: in fact, ordinary rings without inserts are chosen by fewer and fewer newlyweds. And even if the rings are used as wedding rings, the church in most cases allows small inserts of precious stones, as well as engravings. The main thing is that their content does not contradict the church canons.

Please note! If you plan to engrave, choose rings with a simple design and sufficient width. Otherwise, there will be very little room for engraving.

On what part of the ring is engraved

Technologically, engraving can be applied to the outside and inside of the ring. On the rib – only if the jewelry is quite massive. Such models are extremely rare, so let’s focus on feasible options.

Engraving on the outside of the ring – a solution for the brave. After all, what will be written, will be able to read everyone who sees the ring. Therefore, on the outer side of the ring are more often found not too personal inscriptions: ornaments, the usual for wedding inscription “Save and Preserve”.

Technologies of engraving

To put an inscription on the ring can be several ways.

Hand engraving

At the moment, more often used either stitchelnaya or diamond engraving technology. The first is performed by a master jeweler with the help of a special tool – stitchel. In the case of diamond use diamond tool, which forms on the surface of the metal microscopic tetrahedral pits, which are very beautiful shimmering highlights.

Both variants of manual inscription is quite labor-intensive: trust your rings should only an experienced master jeweler.

Laser engraving

Technological processing, when using a laser on a special machine on the ring “burn out” the inscription. This is a fully automated procedure that takes only a few minutes and is characterized by high accuracy. The most popular among couples preparing for the wedding: make laser engraving quickly and inexpensively.

Etching

Complex manual processing of metal, when a special protective varnish is applied to the surface of the ring, and after – “etch” the product in a chemical composition. In places where there was no protective varnish, the metal becomes dark. The technology is complex, painstaking and is rarely used for rings.
