In terms of weight, diamonds are small – up to 0.29 carats, medium – up to 0.99 carats and large – from 1 carat. The size largely depends on the model of earrings and is not directly related to the nature of wear. For example, pendant earrings with single stones of 1 carat can be quite suitable for daily wear. And rather large earrings encrusted with a scatter of small stones weighing 0.1-0.2 carats can be worn in the evening.

Purity of a diamond
Purity for diamonds over 0.3 carats is indicated in numbers from 1 to 12. In this case, 1 is a stone of absolute clarity, while 12 is a stone with numerous inclusions and/or structural defects. It is believed that the best option for wear is from 3 to 7 on the clarity scale. Such stones look very beautiful, and you will not need to overpay for perfect clarity. However, if you are buying earrings from an investment point of view, look for clarity “1” and “2”. Such diamonds will always command a premium.

Diamond Color
Color is indicated by the numbers from 1 to 9. Most diamonds are colorless or have a slight tint. The closer to 1 – the more transparent and more expensive the stone. For daily wear, you can safely take colors 5, 6 and 7. They have a barely noticeable shade. For the “weekend” version – from 5 and less.
